Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Now the donkeys of Kish, Saul’s father, were lost. And Kish said to his son Saul, “Please, take one of the servants with you, and arise, go and look for the donkeys.” – 1 Sam 9:3

Saul’s father sent Saul on an errand. His donkeys had wandered off; so he sent Saul to go get them. Little did Saul know that this “errand” would be the first leg of his trip to meet the prophet Samuel. Little did Saul expect that his simple “yes” to his father’s mundane request would result in his being in the right place, at the right time, to be anointed as king over Israel!

Saul found the donkeys; but he also found something much more important. Because he said yes to an “errand,” He found his destiny:

Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on his head, and kissed him and said: “Is it not because the Lord has anointed you commander over His inheritance?” – 1 Sam 10:1

Just say yes. No matter how small the task in front of you, say yes! As you step out and do the small things with an obedient heart, God will put much bigger things in front of you.

Prayer:

Father, help me to just say yes. I trust You! Even when something I have to do seems small and insignificant, I trust that it has purpose. You can use anything – and You will use everything – in Jesus’ name!
