Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

When they came there to the hill, there was a group of prophets to meet him; then the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them. – 1 Sam 10:10

When the Spirit of God came upon Saul, he excelled. In 1 Sam 10:10, the “Spirit of God came upon” Saul and he began to prophesy. In 1 Sam 11:6, the “Spirit of God came upon Saul” and he led Israel to victory over the Ammonites.

In Hebrew, the word for “came upon” is tsalach, which means “to advance, prosper, make progress, success and be profitable” (Strong’s #H6743). The Holy Spirit empowers you to do impossible things. He advances you, and causes you to prosper! He pushes you into forward motion so you can make supernatural progress. He assures your success, and guarantees you will be profitable.

God’s Holy Spirit will work through you to do incredible things. Invite Him into your life – your work, your family and your church – and watch what He will do! If God is working through you, you will excel!

Prayer:

Father, I will rely on Your Holy Spirit for strength. You push me into victory when defeat seems like the only outcome. You give me success through every trial and tribulation. I trust You in Jesus’ name!
