CityLight Pastor Commentary:

“…the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s…” (1 Sam 17:47). God does not always choose to gain His victory with conventional means. He often chooses someone who seems they would not be up to the task: David was ruddy and good-looking, but was evidently not formally trained for war. He also often chooses resources which seem like they should be inadequate: who would have thought that a young boy could defeat a giant with a smooth stone from a brook? God does not need the tools we rely on to gain us victory. He will anoint whomever He chooses, with whatever resources He knows they need, and He will bring them to victory!

Prayer:

Father, help me to see that You have already won the battle! Use me as you see fit, and help me to see that You can use anyone in incredible ways for deliverance and victory.
