Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Now it came to pass when the king was dwelling in his house, and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies all around… – 2 Sam. 7:1

Notice that “rest from all his enemies all around” came after David brought the ark of the covenant into Jerusalem (2 Sam. 6:17). Once David had the ark of the covenant – the presence of God – in his city, he had rest all around! When you invite the presence of God into your home and your life, you will have rest from your enemies all around, just like David did! You will have a “peace…which surpasses all understanding” (Phil. 4:7). God will “guard your hearts and minds through Christ” (Phil. 4:7)!

The remedy to anxiety is the presence of God. The antidote to fear is the presence of God. The path to making the right major decisions in life has always been – and will always be – the presence of God! What you need right now more than anything else in your life is His presence!

Won’t you spend five minutes with Him today? It just might change your life forever.

Prayer:

Father, I am making room in my schedule to spend time with You! I ask that You give me more time for You than ever before. To pray. To meditate on Your Word! I know that when I invite your presence into my life, I will experience peace and wholeness like never before, in Jesus’ name!
