Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision contended with him, saying, “You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!” – Acts 11:2-3

The Jewish believers in Jerusalem had a bone to pick with Peter. Salvation was only supposed to be for the Jews! Why had Peter messed everything up by going and preaching the Gospel to the Gentiles?! Now there were Gentiles who not only believed in Jesus, but who were also baptized in the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:44-46)!

Peter’s response was simple: “What God has cleansed you must not call common” (Acts 11:9). Salvation is for everyone. It is not our prerogative to say some people groups deserve salvation, and others do not! The darker the past, the brighter the light of salvation. The worse the backstory, the more necessary the Cross!

Preach the Gospel to everyone. Pray for everyone! There is no one in this world who doesn’t need the Good News that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Prayer:

Father, I pray I would never back down from reaching the people You have called me to reach. It doesn’t matter what other people think! I will do what You call me to do, in Jesus’ name!
