Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And he said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Make this valley full of ditches.’” – 2 Kings 3:16

The kings of Israel, Judah, and Edom marched to battle against the Lord’s enemies. But the march took much longer than they expected. They marched in the wilderness for, “…seven days, and there was no water for the army” (2 Kings 3:9). They were tired and thirsty: far from ready for battle as they knew they should be! So they sought the Lord, and asked Him what to do. And here is what He told them:

“For thus says the Lord: ‘You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink.’” – 2 Kings 3:17

God would provide the water! But the soldiers of Israel and her allies had to dig. God will provide for you. He is the God of provision! But your partnership will be required. You will have to put in effort. You will have to get a shovel and start to dig where He tells you to break ground! Whatever He says, go out and do: and He will meet you with provision in that place of obedient service.

Prayer:

Father, I am ready to dig. Whatever You want me to do: tell me. I am ready to do Your will, in Jesus’ name.
