Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
For You have made [mankind] a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honor. – Ps. 8:5
Evolutionary theory says that we are evolved primates: a little higher than the monkeys. But the Word of God says that we are children of God: a little lower than the angels. Evolutionary theory says that we are animals with instinctual urges that are impossible to deny! But the Word of God says that God has crowned us with glory and honor, and we were created to serve in His presence.
You are so much more significant than you realize. You are not just an animal; you are a child of God! You are worth everything to Him! God loves you so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the Cross in your place. You deserve death for your animal instincts; but you receive eternal life by the blood of Jesus, who has raised you to life and restored you to glory and honor in God’s sight!
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. – Ps. 139:14
Prayer:
Father, thank You for making me a little lower than the angels. I accept my divine destiny. I receive my Heavenly role! Thank You for creating me to serve You, in Jesus’ name.
