Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

For he who has died has been freed from sin. – Rom 6:7

Paul does not say that sin no longer exists. He simply specifies that we, through Jesus Christ, are free from it. Just because you are tempted, does not mean you have to sin. Sin no longer has any hold on you! Where temptation exists, grace to overcome every temptation exists all the more.

Just as sickness no longer has any power over a dead man, sin no longer has any power over you! You were crucified with Jesus: buried with Him through baptism into death (v 4). You were raised from the dead with Him by the glory of the Father. When you trust in Jesus, you will walk, “habitually in newness of life, abandoning your old ways” (v 4, Amplified).

Prayer:

Father, thank You that I am freed from sin! Sin has no power over me, in Jesus’ name! Thank You that I am free to live out my life according to Your will.
