Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. – Rom 6:14

When God’s people lived under the law, sin had dominion over them. The law pointed to the problem, but didn’t provide a sustainable solution. Under the Old Covenant, God’s people could temporarily atone for their sin; but it was only a matter of time before they stumbled again.

But you are not under law but under grace. Because you have grace, sin no longer has dominion over you! Grace empowers you to overcome sin. Knowing that God has already forgiven all your sin – past, present, and future – takes the pressure off, and removes the desire to sin in the first place! Being filled with the Holy Spirit gives you the supernatural strength and discernment you need to avoid the things that don’t lead to God’s best.

You are not under law but under grace. Because you have grace, you are no longer subject to sin. You no longer have to allow sin in your life, in Jesus’ name!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for grace. Thank You for giving me everything I could ever need to resist the enemy, and live a life free from sin! I am so grateful, in Jesus’ name.
