Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Yet the Lord would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that He had made with David, and since He had promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons forever. – 2 Chron 21:7

Jehoram was a bad king. He “did evil in the sight of the Lord” (v 6). Yet even though he had no intention of following after God, the Lord “would not destroy [his] house.” God had made a promise to David – his family would sit on the throne for generations to come – and He intended to keep it!

God’s plans for you are permanent. He doesn’t offer you a destiny, just to retract the offer if & when you mess up or miss the mark. Jesus died to secure your destiny; and that means that even you cannot screw it up! God loves you. He is never against you! And every single one of His promises over your life will come to pass!

For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. – Rom 11:29

Prayer:

Father, thank You for never giving up on me! No matter how hard it gets, help me to always come back to You. I love You, and I trust You, in Jesus’ name.
