Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, ‘May the good Lord provide atonement for everyone who prepares his heart to seek God, the Lord God of his fathers, though he is not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.’ And the Lord listened to Hezekiah and healed the people” (2 Chron 30:18-20). The Lord did not heal the people of Israel because of their perfection; He healed them in spite of their imperfection. For the first time in many years, Hezekiah vowed to keep the Passover meal according to God’s instructions; but many came to eat who were not properly cleansed. Hezekiah prayed that the Lord would look past their imperfections and uncleanliness and heal them in spite of their flaws; and God healed them. Jesus Christ is the New Testament fulfillment of King Hezekiah. He has prayed for you: that God would look past your imperfections and uncleanliness and provide atonement. Your healing does not depend on your perfection. Your healing depends on whether or not you have prepared your heart to seek God. Jesus Christ came and hung on the Cross to die for the sins of all mankind – including you. He lived as Perfection personified so that you don’t have to worry about being perfect. Seek God, and He will heal you!

Prayer:

Father, thank you that You heal those who seek You. Even if I’m imperfect, and even if I’m unclean and ill-prepared; You make me whole again in Jesus’ name!
