Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all the inner depths of his heart. – Prov 20:26-27

Do you want to know how healthy you are? Look at your spiritual life. Scripture says that your spirit is the, “…lamp of the Lord, searching all the inner depths of [your] heart.” When Jesus wants to know what’s really going on inside you, He doesn’t look at how often you go to the gym, or your latest performance review at work. He looks at your spirit to search your heart!

Some of us measure health by the strength of our body; but even the strongest bodies will eventually buckle under the weight of gravity and decay. Others of us measure health by the success we experience at work; but even the greatest earthly achievements will fade with the passage of time. Spiritual health is the only metric that matters in the end! And it all starts with genuine relationship with Jesus Christ.

Take a few moments today to focus on your spiritual health. Emotional and physical well-being are important; but when all is said and done, your spiritual health will dictate where you spend eternity.

Prayer:

Father, help me to get healthy! I know I need to stop wasting time worrying about earthly measures of success. I want to focus on my spirit. I want to focus on my relationship with You!
