Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains… – Col 4:2-3

Paul needed prayer. This was important! He needed the early church to pray for him “earnestly” and with vigilance (v 2).

This was Paul’s chief prayer request: that God would open a door for the word. Paul had plenty of things he could be asking for! Protection from his enemies. Freedom from prison. Provision for his needs to be met! But he bypassed all those personal prayer requests, and focused instead on the Kingdom of God.

What are you praying for? Is an opportunity to share the Gospel first on your list?

Prayer:

Father, I pray You would open to me a door for the word. I’m asking You to put at least one person who doesn’t know Jesus in my path, so I can share the Gospel!
