Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Therefore Daniel went to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon. He went and said thus to him: “Do not destroy the wise men of Babylon; take me before the king, and I will tell the king the interpretation.” – Dan. 2:24

The king of Babylon issued a decree that was bad news for Daniel and his friends. King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream! And unless one of his wise men could tell him the specifics of the dream, plus what it meant, without any hints from the king, all the wise men would be put to death, including Daniel.

But did you know that God uses wicked decrees to exalt His servants? He allows wicked decrees so that His name can be glorified! Think about this. God used the enemy’s plan to exalt Daniel. The king decreed death! But God used it for life. He used the king’s wicked decree to gain glory in the eyes of Nebuchadnezzar. He used the king’s wicked decree to make Daniel “ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief administrator over all the wise men of Babylon” (v 48).

So do not fear in the age of vaccine mandates and the violation of personal liberties! The next time an evil decree is issued, ask yourself what God is doing. He didn’t issue the decree! But He allowed it to be issued so that – some way, some how – you can be promoted and He can be glorified.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the way that You work! Thank You for the ways You move. When I see laws and rules coming out of government that don’t line up with Your word, I will not fear! I will trust that You are doing something greater than I can imagine! I will be promoted, and You will be glorified, in Jesus’ name.
