Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. – 2 Pet 2:1

Any prophecy or doctrine that does not glorify Jesus Christ is blasphemy. Peter clarifies that the difference between a true prophet and a false prophet is the glorification of Jesus Christ. The purpose of all Scripture – both Old Testament and New – is to point to the Cross. Any worldview that denies the reality that Jesus Christ is the Son of God falls short of absolute Truth.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). Through Him and in Him, we have new life. Apart from Him, we have nothing.

Prayer:

Father, help me to keep my eyes focused on the Cross. Jesus Christ is the reason I am alive. Help me to glorify Him in everything I think, say, and do!
