Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. – Ps 139:1-3

God has “searched you and known you.” He knows your most intimate secrets. He understands your thoughts “afar off” (v 2). Before you think something, God knew you were going to think it! He is acquainted with “all your ways” (v 3). God knows everything you have ever done, and everything you will ever do! And do you know what?

He loves you all the same. God knows you better than you know yourself. He’s searched you; He’s heard you; and He knows you! And He made the decision to love you: in spite of everything you struggle with, and all the things you try and hide from Him.

If God has already searched you – if He already knows you, and still chooses to love you – why in the world would you ever try to hide anything from Him?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for loving me. I’m far from perfect; but You sent Your Son Jesus Christ to be perfect for me! I thank You for Your love, in Jesus’ name.
