Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

And after all this, if you do not obey Me, …your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield its produce, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit. – Lev 26:18-20

Obedience and “strength” are different. Constant motion does not always lead to blessing; only obedient action does. Effort does not always lead to fulfillment; in fact, sometimes it can be misguided!

Get God’s Word before you start moving. Take the time to hear Him, and make sure all your efforts are worthwhile. There is no sense in spinning your wheels if it is not what God has called you to do. Just because you are moving does not mean you are obedient! And just because you are resting does not mean you are outside the will of God.

God’s message to His people is simple: obedience is paramount. Obedience is not restricting; it is empowering. Obedience means we don’t have to waste our lives trying to figure out what to do! We simply get to seek God, find out what He wants us to do, and go out and do it!

Prayer:

Father, help me to keep things simple. Tell me what You want me to do, and I’m going to go out and do it: in Jesus’ name!
