Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is given in parables… – Lk 8:10

Jesus used parables when He spoke to the masses. He told stories that illustrated basic truths, but the meanings were often hidden below the surface. When He spoke with His disciples, however, He spoke plainly. All was revealed, and nothing was left hidden. Mark recounts that, “…when they were alone, He explained all things to His disciples” (Mk 4:34).

Revelation comes from intimate conversation. The disciples had the chance to ask Jesus questions because they knew Him; and when they asked, He did not hold back.

Do you want to understand God’s plan for your life? Ask Him. He will explain everything He needs us to know in intimate detail: not because you deserve an explanation, but because you know Him!

Prayer:

Father, give me the courage to ask You for clarification. Help me to ask questions in prayer, so I can be adequately informed to go out and fulfill the purpose You have for my life! I know you will reveal all things to me, just as Jesus did to His disciples!
