Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

…though Jesus Himself did not baptize, but His disciples… – Jn 4:2

In three short years of ministry, Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John the Baptist (Jn 4:1). Jesus shared what He saw and heard from heaven, and men and women came to him in droves. Even from the very beginning, His ministry model was based on trust and delegation.

Jesus did not baptize people Himself: there would have been far too many people for Him to meet all their needs Personally. Jesus recruited disciples to be His hands and feet: to act on His behalf, and to carry His authority. The ministry model in His church has not changed. Every man and woman who calls on the name of Jesus has the same authority He has! In fact, Jesus calls us to perform greater works (Jn 14:12) than even He was able to perform!

You are the hands and feet of God’s Only Son. Jesus trusts you. He ascended to Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; and you and I are seated in Him. God trusts us to finish the work that Jesus started. We have access to all the resources of Heaven, when we ask for them. We can – and should – see the same miracles Jesus performed right before our eyes!

The same Holy Spirit who lives in Him, lives in us! Go and out live accordingly.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for trusting me to go out and make Jesus famous. That is a responsibility I promise to take seriously, and a privilege I promise to thoroughly enjoy. Thank You!
