Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

“Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did.” – Jn 4:29

Jesus met a woman from Samaria, and told her things about herself that only God could know. He proved His identity with prophecy. This woman went out and told everyone what had happened. The result? “And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified…” (Jn 4:39).

Paul tells us to earnestly desire spiritual gifts, especially prophecy (1 Cor 14:1). God is willing to share words of knowledge with you: to tell you things about the people around you that only He could know. He shares these things with us so that we might share them with others. When we share them with others, they will believe in Him.

Prophecy is a powerful witness. Have you asked God to reveal His secrets to you, so that you can go out and win men and women to Christ? When we ask, He will answer.

Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. – Amos 3:7

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the gift of prophecy. Even if I’m not called to the office of a prophet, I know that You call all believers to walk in the prophetic! I know that prophecy comes from relationship with You. Help me to spend time in Your presence, so that I can win others to faith.
