And the child Samuel grew in stature, and in favor both with the Lord and men.
– 1 Sam 2:26
Our promise as God’s children is complete favor: both with God, and with men. Our choice to worship God in everything we do does not mean that we have forfeited success according to the world’s standard. When we serve God with all our heart, He will cause us to prosper in everything we do.
Yes, it is true that we must choose to serve God, and nothing & no one else. Man cannot serve two masters (Matt 6:24). But when we seek God’s kingdom first, He will give us everything we need to survive and thrive (Matt 6:33)!
When we seek favor with man instead of favor with God, both will prove elusive; but when we seek favor with God instead of favor with man, both will be given into our hand! Seek God first. Honor Him often, and watch how the Lord rewards you openly!
Prayer:
Father, help me to seek You first. I know that I don’t have to choose between favor with God and favor with other men and women. When I seek favor with You, You will give me whatever favor I need with everyone else around me. Thank You for it!
