Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit. – Prov. 15:4

The tongue is a powerful tool. If you use it properly, it can help you build the life of your dreams. It can secure your eternal future in Heaven with God! But if you use it improperly, it can lead to destruction.

What are you using your tongue for? Are you using it to build up others? Or are you using it to tear others down? Are you using it to honor God? Or are you using it to spew profanity and curses everywhere you go? Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” Are you using the power in your tongue to speak life? Or are the things you say leading to death?

Use your tongue wisely. Speak healing, health and wholeness over yourself and over others! Just like the rudder of a ship, your tongue can steer you where you want to go.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the power in my tongue! I pray right now that You would redeem my tongue. Make it wholesome, and help me to use it to say things that honor You! I’m so grateful for the power You gave me in my tongue, in Jesus’ name.
