CityLight Pastor Commentary:
“In return for my love they are my accusers, but I give myself to prayer” (Ps 109:4). Have you ever showed love to someone as much as you possibly can, only to find that in return they hate you even more? In today’s reading, David tells us that sometimes that will be the case. Sometimes, no matter what you do, certain people will not love and respect you. The answer is to give yourself to prayer. God is our Deliverer. He can and will deliver us from any wickedness that befalls us in life. It is not your job to change the hearts of the wicked. Turn to prayer, and rely on God to change them on your behalf.
Prayer:
Father, no matter what situation I find myself in, I’m going to give myself to prayer! I know You can cause more change in an instant than I can in an entire lifetime, so help me to get out of the way and let You work!
