CityLight Pastor Commentary:
“So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ‘It is finished!’ And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit” (Jn 19:30). Jesus made one thing particularly clear to His disciples when He told them about His impending death: nobody was taking His life, but rather He was laying it down willingly (Jn 10:18). The Crucifixion was part of God’s plan, because without death Jesus could not be born into resurrection life! If we are to be truly transformed, we must follow suit. Each and every single person who calls on the Name Jesus Christ must make a personal decision to lay his life down. When we call on the Name of Jesus and willingly give up our lives, God will rebirth us into resurrection life!
Prayer:
Father, I give my life willingly to You. I choose to rely on Your Son Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. Nobody can make the choice for me, so I choose today to make it for myself!
