Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. – Ps 127:1

If you build it on your own, you have to maintain it on your own. But if the Lord builds it for you, He will do all the maintenance work.

God wants to co-labor with you. If you’re an investor, He wants to be your business partner. If you’re a teacher, He wants you to sit back, relax, and be His TA. If you’re a therapist, He wants you to let His Holy Spirit – the Counselor – do all the heavy lifting.

Whatever you are working to establish – house, family, good career – you need God as a partner. Unless He establishes it for you, you’re building in vain. Everything we work to put together will crumble unless we involve God in the building process.

This morning, give your life’s work to God. Accept His invitation to build your house for you. Cast your cares on Him, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light!

Prayer:

God, I know that I cannot do anything of eternal significance without You. In the name of Jesus, I ask that You would build with me. Help me to establish everything You’ve called me to do!
