Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

And when forty years had passed, an Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire in a bush, in the wilderness of Mount Sinai. – Acts 7:30

In Acts 7, Stephen is on trial. Instead of defending himself, he uses his platform to defend his faith by proclaiming the Gospel. He makes a point of highlighting the life of Moses, and one thing stands out in particular: Moses was eighty years old when God appeared to him in the form of a burning bush. God met Moses exactly where he was, and invited him on a new journey.

No matter how far “past your prime” you think you are, remember this: there is no age limit on God’s purpose for your life. Whatever your age, and whatever your life experience, you have plenty of life left in you. You’re not too old to start your second career, and you’re not too old to start your first family. You’re certainly not too old to dedicate your life to God all over again.

Moses had lived many lives. He spent his first forty years as Egyptian royalty. Then, after murdering a man, he spent his next forty years in exile. Finally, he spent his final forty years in the wilderness, leading God’s people to the edge of the Promised Land!

Are you ready to start your new life in God?

Prayer:

Father, I am never to old to be born again in You! I believe in You. I believe that Jesus died on the Cross to take away the stain of all my sins! I know His blood makes me whole again. Lord, I invite You into my life, and I ask You to make all things new!
