CityLight Pastor Commentary:
“So the Lord gave Solomon wisdom, as He had promised him; and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty together” (1 Kings 5:12). Peace is a natural byproduct of wisdom. First, wisdom leads us to God and restores our relationship with our Father. We can finally have peace with God when we are wise enough to rely on His Son Jesus Christ for salvation. Second, wisdom leads us to reconcile our difference with others. If we cannot love our brothers and sister, whom we see plainly, how can we love Jesus Christ whom we have not seen face to face (1 Jn 4:20)?
Prayer:
Father, give me the wisdom required to love the people around me well. I don’t want to be at odds and struggling with everyone around me. Bless me with peace, in Jesus’ Mighty Name.
