Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

“And I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for My own sake, and for the sake of My servant David.” – 2 Kings 20:6

Hezekiah received breakthrough because he was a man of prayer! Whenever crisis struck Hezekiah, he prayed. When Assyria came up to besiege Jerusalem, Hezekiah prayed (2 Kings 19:14). When disease came to lay hold of Hezekiah’s body, Hezekiah prayed (2 Kings 20:2)!

Hezekiah prospered because he understood an important lesson: God cannot hear the prayers you do not pray. Your prayers matter. Pray early and often, because your breakthrough depends on it.

Prayer:

Father, make me a (wo)man of prayer! When crisis hits, let prayer be my first response. When breakthrough comes, let prayer be my first response! No matter what happens in my life: push me to pray, in Jesus’ name!
