Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

And the king of Egypt did not come out of his land anymore, for the king of Babylon had taken all that belonged to the king of Egypt from the Brook of Egypt to the River Euphrates. – 2 Kings 24:7

God’s people suffered defeat after humiliating defeat. First, the king of Egypt overran Jerusalem. He took Jehoahaz captive (2 Kings 23:33) and made the land pay tribute to Egypt. Then, the king of Babylon overran Israel. Nebuchadnezzar took the people of Israel captive, and made them his slaves.

But the whole time, the Lord preserved the promise. He protected a remnant of true worshippers whom He would raise up to rebuild His nation. No matter how many enemies seek to destroy the seed God has planted in your life, God always preserves the promise! No one can kill the destiny God has given you to live out.

What has God promised you? No matter what defeats have taken place in your life, God preserves His promise! He works overtime to make sure everything He has promised comes to pass.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for preserving the promise. I pray Your Holy Spirit would encourage me to rise up with boldness and perform everything You have given me to do; because no one can kill what Jesus died to preserve!
