Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

…Paul advised them, saying, “Men, I perceive that this voyage will end with disaster and much loss, not only of the cargo and ship, but also our lives.” – Acts 27:9-10

Paul perceived that the voyage would end in disaster. “Perceive” is the Greek word theoreo (Strong’s #2334), which means to see with the eyes. In other words, God had already showed Paul what would happen. Whether in a dream or a vision, Paul knew that the voyage would end in disaster because God revealed it to him in advance.

God’s desire is that we would seek Him in advance: before calamity and catastrophe take place! The men who sailed the ship would not listen to Paul. They were experienced sailors: experts in their field. Yet Paul knew best because God had showed him exactly what was going to happen.

Seek God early and often. At the start of every day, ask Him what your day is going to look like. Pay attention to what you see with your spiritual eyes. Take heed to what you perceive in your spirit. God is trying to get you a message; you can only see it when you make time to look!

Prayer:

Father, I know that You do nothing without first revealing Your secrets to Your servants. Speak to me in advance. Show me how tough conversations are going to go before they even happen! I will listen, with both eyes open!
