Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

And so it was that they all escaped safely to land. – Acts 27:44

Paul faced imminent disaster. The ship on which he was traveling was stuck at sea, and about to be shipwrecked. But then an angel of God appeared to Paul in a dream, saying, “Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you” (Acts 27:24).

God came to Paul in a dream and gave him specific instructions to avoid shipwreck. When the sailors tried to escape, leaving all the prisoners and the soldiers to die, Paul caught them. He knew what was coming. When the ship finally neared land, Paul knew exactly how to instruct the crew to run the ship aground, so everyone on board could get safely to land.

God will comfort us in our greatest hour of need. He will give us specific instructions to avoid imminent disaster when we ask for them! Paul kept his life because he sought God, and listened to everything God told him to do. What’s more, he saved the lives of everyone on board!

Paul wasn’t on the ship by accident. God put him on the ship to save the lives of the men around him. You are in your family, your workplace, and this city, so the people around you will come to Jesus and be saved. When God speaks to you, share what He is saying!

Where there is no vision, the people perish… – Prov 29:18

Father, increase the dreams and visions I receive from You! I ask that You would speak to me at all hours of the day. Show me plans to avoid disaster. Show me plans to lead the people around me to salvation! Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening!
