Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

But he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm. – Acts 28:5

Jesus promised Paul he would preach the Gospel in Rome. The enemy tried, many times, to prevent Paul from reaching Rome. First, the ship Paul sailed on was shipwrecked. Then, a venomous snake bit him! All the residents of Malta watched and expected Paul to fall down dead! But he suffered no harm.

Paul relied on the promises Jesus issued to His disciples:

“…they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” – Mk 16:18

Paul knew that he didn’t have to fear snakes, or poison. God dealt swiftly with anything or anyone that tried to get in the way of proclaiming the Gospel message! When we seek to preach the Truth without restraint, God will protect us!

Prayer:

Father, provide me with supernatural protection. I want to declare Your Word to the world. Give me all the resources I need to go out and do it, in Jesus’ name!
