Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.” – Matt. 13:49-59

Jesus is a nice Guy. He is the Prince of Peace! His words bring life. But when it comes to the subject of the “end of the age,” Jesus never minced words. He never held back!

There will be a final judgment. “Angels will come forth [to] separate the wicked from among the just” (v 49). The just will be gathered into Heaven. But the wicked will be “cast…into the furnace of fire” (v 50).

Where will you spend eternity? Your eternal destination is not based on what you do: whether or not you live a perfect life. It is based on Who you know. If you know Jesus, you will avoid the fire; because He lived a perfect life for You, and when You receive Him as Lord you are hidden in Him (Col. 3:3)! But if you don’t know Jesus, you will be cast into the “furnace of fire.” It’s that simple. And it is not a joke. Not everyone gets to go to Heaven. And don’t tell me that’s not “fair!” Because Jesus told us the deal up front!

If you believe Scripture, there is no avoiding the reality that Hell exists. Even if you’re not sure you believe Scripture, is it worth taking the chance? Receive Jesus. He is the only One who can save you from the fire, and welcome you into everlasting life.

Prayer:

Father, thank You that I know Jesus! I’m so happy I have received Him as Lord. I want to live my life in humble devotion and service to You: because You are the one who saved me from the flames of Hell, and welcomed me into Heaven with open arms!
