Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Now therefore, do not let Hezekiah deceive you or persuade you like this, and do not believe him; for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people from my hand or the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you from my hand?’ ” – 2 Chron 32:15

As the Assyrian armies came up against Jerusalem, their king taunted God’s people. He tried to convince them that God would not save them. He tried to persuade them that they would surely be defeated. But God’s people would not listen.

The enemy’s number one job is to convince you that God is not faithful. Do not even entertain his arguments. There is no room for doubt and second-guessing when you are in the fight of your life. Double down, and believe in God all the more!

God delivered His people. He “sent an angel who cut down every mighty man of valor, leader, and captain in the camp…of Assyria” (v 21). The people of Jerusalem didn’t even have to fight; they only had to believe.

“…stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.” – 2 Chron 20:17

Prayer:

Father, give me great faith! Do not let me even entertain the smallest seed of doubt. I want to believe Your word with all my heart, in Jesus’ name!
