Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

And they have gathered the money that was found in the house of the Lord, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers and the workmen. – 2 Chron 34:17

The priests in the temple at Jerusalem were sitting on a goldmine; they just didn’t know it. God’s people had forgotten how to follow Him. The temple sat largely unused, and desperately in need of repair. But God had already deposited everything they would need to get the work done!

The money the priests needed to repair the temple was “found in the house of the Lord” (v 17). They had it all along; they just didn’t know it. The priests simply needed to 1) look for it, and 2) steward it well.

You are God’s New Covenant temple (1 Cor 6:19)! You already have talents and skills inside of you: rich deposits God made before He formed you in your mother’s womb. He designed you to demonstrate His glory! Everything you need is buried in you; you just need to draw it out!

You are stronger, smarter, and more prepared than you think you are. Ask God to help you draw out the talents within you, and watch how fast He builds up His temple!

Prayer:

Father, help me to identify the hidden talents You put in me for Your glory. I know they’re in there; and I’m asking You to help me to draw them out!
