Commentary from Pastor Mike White:
And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. – Rom 16:20
When we say we will do something “shortly,” it means we will get to it “in a little while.” More often than not, it means we are going to put it off until we have time to get to it. However, when God says He will crush Satan under our feet “shortly,” it has a completely difference meaning. The word “shortly” is the Greek word tachos (Strong’s #5034), which means with quickness and speed. In other words, God will not wait to crush Satan on our behalf: He will do it with quickness and speed, whenever we make the request!
God gives us full confidence that every knee must bow at the name of Jesus (Phil 2:9-11). He also gives us full confidence that Satan will be crushed quickly. Bring your toughest situations to God, knowing that He will bring you to victory with urgency!
Prayer:
Father, thank You for giving me victory. Thank You that my fight against the things of this world does not have to be long and drawn out. I know that as soon as I pray the name Jesus, You are quick to deliver me!
