Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. – 1 Cor 1:10

Jesus does not divide; He unites. Jesus asked God that He would unite the church in John 17. Here, Paul pleads that the church would remember His prayer: “…that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me” (Jn 17:21). God’s will is that all of His church would be united in His Son Jesus Christ.

It breaks my heart when Christians argue. We have so much in common to celebrate. When we were in our deepest, darkest moment of despair, Jesus called us home. He forgave all our sins, and called us righteous when we deserved it least! The forgiveness we have in common is so much more significant than any disagreement that could cause division.

God invites all Christians to be of one mind: perfectly joined together in thought and intention as we seek to honor Jesus Christ in everything we do!

Prayer:

Father, unite Your church. We pray that churches in New York City would continue to join together to worship You, and to build Your kingdom with haste. We pray that churches all over the world would lift our voices in anticipation of everything You are about to do. Thank You for pouring out Your Spirit on all flesh!
