Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing… – Ezra 1:1

If it’s not in writing, it’s not official. Cyrus’ proclamation was significant because he published it, in writing. God’s word is preached all over the world because He published it, in writing.

You would never purchase a home, or make any other significant legal agreement, by speech. It’s not legally binding until you wrote it down. Yet too often, when God promises us something, we don’t write it down! If we leave it unwritten, the enemy can steal it from us. Or, we can forget what was ever promised in the first place!

Has God given you plans? Has He made you promises? Write them down! As soon as you do, they become binding, and God can fulfill His word!

Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.” – Hab 2:2

Prayer:

Father, give me specific vision. I pray that you would reveal every plan You have for me. Encourage me to record it all, so the vision can be fulfilled!
