Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

In You, O Lord, I put my trust; Let me never be ashamed; Deliver me in Your righteousness. Bow down Your ear to me… – Ps 31:1-2a

When you pray, do you feel like you’re competing for God’s attention? With over 2.4 billion Christians in the world, how can He possibly have time to pick out your voice from the crowd? Do you ever wonder if He’s busy? If He even hears you at all?

Too often, we think we have to raise our voices to God: to yell at Him to make sure He hears us. Yet Scripture says that, when we pray, God actually bows His ear to us. We don’t have to work for His attention, or go out of our way to earn His affection. He bows his ear to receive our requests; and when we need Him, He is ready to deliver us!

Your prayers matter. Your requests to God are significant. When you speak, He listens. Pray with boldness and confidence, knowing that the King of Kings gives you an audience at all times!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for bowing Your ear to me. You don’t owe me anything; I certainly don’t deserve Your attention. Yet because of the Cross, You listen to me nonetheless. Thank You!
