Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. – Ps 33:20
To “wait” is the Hebrew chakah (Strong’s H2442), which means to tarry or to long for. When we wait for God, we long for His intervention. We anticipate His deliverance with a confident hope and expectation that His goodness will come.
Waiting is part of the Christian life. Those who “wait on the Lord will renew their strength” (Is 40:31). “Blessed is he who waits” (Dan 12:12). Jesus told the disciples, “…not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father” (Acts 2:4). Good things come to those who wait!
When was the last time you prayed for patience? The more you get comfortable waiting, the more blessed you will become.
Prayer:
Father, help me to wait well in Jesus’ name! Bless me with supernatural patience, and help me to long for Your goodness, all of my days.
