Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

“The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.” – Is 2:1

Isaiah saw the word of God. God gave him visions to outline and explain everything that was about to take place. If Isaiah was open to seeing everything God had to show him with his spiritual eyes, shouldn’t we pray that our eyes might be opened so that we can follow suit?

God speaks to me most often in picture form. He will give me a picture of someone for whom He wants me to pray. He will cause me to dream about a situation before it happens, so I know how to perform when conflict arises. My constant prayer is, “God, open my spiritual eyes, so I can see what You are up to around me and participate in Your plans!”

Sometimes we see the word of God in picture form, as He speaks to us through revelation. Sometimes we hear the word of God in the form of the still, small voice: God’s Holy Spirit communicating to our spirit. Sometimes we feel God’s direction as He gives us rest in our spirit (2 Cor 2:31; the spiritual “gut check”).

What God would have us realize is that He can communicate with us any way He wants! We should ask Him to enhance our spiritual senses, so that when God wants to talk, we are prepared to listen!

Prayer:

Father, open my spiritual eyes, that I may see. Open my ears, that I may hear! Prepare my senses, that I may feel You when You are present. Show me Your thoughts, plans, and purposes, in Jesus’ name!
