Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. – 2 Cor 11:3

The Gospel is simple. Faith in Jesus Christ is simple. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Rom 5:8).

Satan’s goal is to complicate things. The enemy wants you to experience paralysis by analysis: getting you to over-analyze your salvation to the point of doubt. He wants to convince you that faith comes with strings attached. The enemy would have you believe that you have to work for God’s affection, and that the only way you can gain favor is by earning it.

But you know better. You are a New Testament Christian. You are saved by grace, through faith! And if you’re already saved by the unmerited favor of God, then there’s nothing you have to do to impress Him!

Keep it simple. God so loved you that He sent His only Son to die for you. God paid the highest price, so that you could receive the highest reward. Step into His favor by faith, and receive salvation in Jesus’ name!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the simplicity of grace. I didn’t deserve to be saved from my sin; but You saved me all the same. Thank You!
