Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him” (Is 64:4). Waiting on the Lord is not always easy. But God is giving us a choice this morning. If we refuse to wait on Him and value His timing, we will be forced to act for ourselves. The unfortunate foregone conclusion is that our plans can never be as supernatural as His! However, God promises us that when we wait for Him, He will act for us. When we are sensitive to His will and His timing, God guarantees that He will act on our behalf. He will fight every battle for us, refresh us when we’re weary, and ensure that we are walking in the supernatural wake of His Son Jesus Christ. Wait on the Lord this morning. Let Him act for you.
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength…” (Is 40:31).
Prayer:
Father, prevent me from feeling like I need to rush ahead of Your plans for me. Help me to avoid acting on my own. I want to wait for You; and I know that when I do, You will act for me!
