Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” – Jer 1:4-5
Sometimes you have to seek the word of the Lord. At other times, it will just come to you.
Learn to rejoice in both seasons. Searching for God increases your capacity to love Him more. Seeking Him reminds you just how much you need Him. Straining to hear His voice keeps you humble and reliant on Him! But what a blessing it is when the word of God simply comes.
Here is all that matters: when the word of the Lord comes, will you be available? Will you keep running around from task to task, pretending to hear, even though you’re not really listening? Or will you put your life on pause long enough to hear everything God has to say?
Prayer:
Father, I want to make time to hear Your voice. I need Your presence, and I need to hear Your voice. Bless me with both, in Jesus’ name!
