Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then the Lord said to me, “Do not pray for this people, for their good.” – Jer. 14:11

God told Jeremiah not to pray for His people. Why? The implication is that, as soon as Jeremiah so much as uttered a prayer on behalf of Israel, God would inevitably answer Jeremiah’s prayer in some capacity. He would have been compelled to move in response to Jeremiah’s prayer and rush to Israel’s rescue!

Don’t you see what this means? God never ignores your prayers. If He could simply ignore your prayers, He wouldn’t have bothered to tell Jeremiah not to pray; He would have just not listened! But God cannot not listen. He hears your every prayer! And when He hears, He responds. God knew that as soon as Jeremiah prayed, He would be moved with compassion for the object of Jeremiah’s prayer.

Your prayers are powerful! God may not always answer them in the way you expect; but He cannot resist answering them in some way. God loves you, and His heart is – and has always been – to bless you.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for hearing my prayers! Thank You that no word and no moment is wasted in Your presence. You are so good to me, and I am so grateful, in Jesus’ name!
