Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely… He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. – 1 Thess 5:23-24

To be “sanctified” means to be purified: separated from profane things and dedicated completely to God (Strong’s #37). We can never sanctify ourselves. It is God who must sanctify us. If we try and earn our righteousness, we will end up burned out and disappointed. But if we accept God’s grace and allow Him to sanctify us, we will be refreshed and full of joy!

You don’t need to impress God. You don’t need to earn His affection. Salvation is a gift. A gift can never be earned; it can only be received. Accept everything Jesus did for you on the Cross today! Then, allow Him to finish the good work He started in you.

Prayer:

Father, I admit I am not perfect; but I know I don’t have to be. Jesus Christ died on the Cross so that I could be made perfect in Him. Thank You for the Cross!
