Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“The prophets who have been before me and before you of old prophesied against many countries and great kingdoms–of war and disaster and pestilence. As for the prophet who prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet comes to pass, the prophet will be known as one whom the Lord has truly sent.” – Jer. 28:8-9

Sometimes God sends prophets to prophesy peace! Other times He sends them to prophesy “disaster and pestilence.” Sometimes God will send good news! Sometimes He will open your eyes to bad news. But rejoice always to get His news; because even His warning is always for your good.

God’s heart is to protect you. His goal is to keep you safe! That means that God will sometimes tell you things you don’t want to hear for your benefit. He will convict you in the holiest, healthiest, and most loving way so that you can remove every distraction and come back to Him. He will warn you about current events so that you can be prepared for disruption in your daily life!

The hour in which we are living is no exception. We are in the midst of a contentious election and a worldwide pandemic. I believe our nation’s economy will get worse before it gets better. But God has warned us for our good. He has reminded us to keep our eyes on Him, and to trust Him for provision. To brush off His warnings is a mistake. To receive it, and to heed Him, is a blessing.

Get close to God’s heart. He has something you need to hear Him say today! And you will find it in prayer.

Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. – Amos 3:7

Prayer:

Father, thank You for always speaking to me! I am asking to hear more of Your voice. Give me the good news! Give me the warnings too. If it means I get to be closer to You, I receive it all, in Jesus’ name.
