Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men… – 1 Tim. 2:1
Paul put “giving of thanks” in the same category as “supplications, prayers, [and] intercessions!” Supplication means asking God for something you need. Prayer means talking to God for yourself. Intercession means talking to God about someone else! And “giving of thanks” means cultivating a grateful heart.
Get your prayer time in today. Intercede on behalf of someone else! Supplicate and tell God what you need. But don’t forget to be grateful! God has done so much for you. He put breath in your lungs! And now He wants to put a smile on your face. Thank Him, and He will make it worth your while.
Prayer:
Father, help me to stay grateful. You have done so much for me! I am forever thankful. Remind me to give thanks to You every day of my life, in Jesus’ name!
