Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“…and without shedding of blood there is no remission” (Heb 9:22). Shedding of blood is required for a covenant to be ratified. When Moses received the law from God, he ratified Israel’s new covenant with, “…the blood of calves and goats, with water, scarlet wool, and hyssop” (Heb 9:19). When Jesus Christ established the New Covenant on the Cross, He offered up His own blood to ratify the covenant. Without blood there is no remission of sins. But Jesus Christ freely spilled His blood for the remission of all our sins: past, present and future. You are purified, and made spotless, by the blood of Jesus Christ!
Father, thank You for the blood of Your Son Jesus Christ! I know His blood makes me clean. His blood washes over me and permits forgiveness of all my sins. Thank You for the Cross!
