Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come… Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. – Heb 9:11-12
All throughout Israel’s history, only one man was allowed in God’s presence (see v 7). Once per year, the high priest would enter the Most Holy Place to make an offering to God. Nobody else was allowed in!
But the blood of Jesus changed all that. By His blood, Jesus purchased access to the presence of God for all believers: “Once for all!”
If Jesus already bought it, you no longer have to earn it. You don’t have to “do anything” to make God love you more. You don’t have to “do anything” to earn access to His presence. He already loves you more than you could ever imagine! You are forgiven because of the Cross of Jesus Christ. You have access to the very presence of God by His blood! You are alive, and have been set free, in Jesus’ name!
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the gift of Your Son Jesus Christ. Thank You for making a way into Your presence: an offer that never expires, and a door that never closes! I choose Jesus, in Jesus’ name.
